Nelson Advisors Analyst/Associate

Analyst/Associate position

Nelson Advisors is a boutique HealthTech and MedTech M&A, partnerships and investments advisory firm, focused on digital health, HealthTech, medtech, healthcare AI, health IT, consumer health and cybersecurity across Europe, the UK and North America.

The team structure currently consists of founding partners plus a team of Analysts, Associates and VPs with backgrounds from bulge‑bracket banks (Rothschild, Citi, Morgan Stanley) and specialist investors (ETH Zurich, Kieger, Redalpine), signalling a classic investment banking skill set applied to a specialised sector.

Analyst/Associate Responsibilities

Support sell‑side and buy‑side M&A mandates, including building detailed valuation models, buyer lists, process materials (teasers, CIMs) and coordinating due diligence across digital health, medtech and AI‑in‑healthcare deals.

Contribute to strategic advisory projects around “Build, Buy, Partner, Sell” decisions, including market mapping, commercial due diligence, go‑to‑market and international expansion analysis for HealthTech and MedTech clients.

Additional day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

Preparing thought‑leadership and sector reports on European HealthTech, AI, valuation multiples and market dynamics, which the firm publishes regularly across its blog and external media.

Direct interaction with founders, boards and investors in a “founders for founders” model, giving more client exposure than in a large bank but also requiring maturity and sector fluency from relatively junior team members.

Candidate profiles

Analyst/Associate profiles include:

Strong academic record, often with MSc, PhD or MBA, and a focus on finance, economics, engineering, life sciences or related quantitative disciplines.

Prior experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity/VC or strategy consulting, frequently at bulge‑bracket banks or specialist healthcare/tech investors, with familiarity in M&A execution and financial modelling.

Sector‑specific attributes:

Demonstrable interest and exposure to HealthTech, MedTech, digital health or AI in healthcare, aligning with the firm’s tight sector specialisation and its work with regulators and frameworks like the EU AI Act and EHDS.

Comfort working in small, entrepreneurial teams and engaging closely with founders, consistent with the firm’s emphasis on operational founder experience and its ecosystem role with universities and business schools.

Skills and mindset

Effective Analyst/Associate would need:

Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills; ability to handle cross‑border, growth‑stage and tech‑heavy deals where earnings, cohorts and KPIs matter as much as traditional P&L metrics.

Strong written and verbal communication to produce high‑quality marketing materials, thought‑leadership pieces and board‑level presentations for HealthTech and MedTech clients.

Research and commercial due‑diligence capability, including market sizing, competitive benchmarking and assessing reimbursement/regulatory risk in European healthcare.

A founder‑friendly, hands‑on attitude that fits with a boutique advisory culture aiming to act as a strategic partner rather than a purely transactional intermediary.
